Activities for Fairtrade Fortnight 2005 in Garstang:
To start Fairtrade Fortnight the Fairtrade banner will be put up across the High Street - saying 'Welcome To Garstang - the World's First Fairtrade Town'.
Thursday March 3rd
Fairtrade Coffee Morning at Garstang United Reformed Church Hall 10am to 12 noon. We will be selling cakes made with Fairtrade ingredients and there will be a Fairtrade quiz about all the Fairtrade items now on sale in our Garstang shops.
Monday March 7th
A group from the Steering Committee will be travelling to Manchester to celebrate that city becoming the 100th Fairtrade city.
Thursday March 10th
Fairtrade Coffee Morning at the Methodist Church 10am to 12 noon. Cakes made with Fairtrade ingredients will be on sale.
Saturday March 12th
We end the week with an evening entitled 'We Went to Ghana' Hot Pot Supper. The entertainment will be given by the group who went to Ghana last summer to visit New Koforidua which is twinned with Garstang.
Gwyneth Bough will be exhibiting her brilliant paintings inspired by going out there. Robin will be reading some of the poems he wrote and showing a video of the visit. Other members of the group will be giving short accounts of their experiences whilst in Ghana.
